TAHAANGA Fun Fact: Maori Name

TAHAANGA Fun Fact: Maori Name

In case you've ever wondered, the name TAHAANGA™ comes from the Maori – an Eastern Polynesian language spoken by the Māori people, the indigenous population of New Zealand – and it means naked. The original name is spelled with a single A, but we decided on the double A, for a numerology question (yes, we are superstitious!). Furthermore, the shield used for our logo was also inspired by the Maori traditional tattoos.

The idea was to create a shirt that would have that “barely there, almost but not quite naked” feel, and we thought the name TAHAANGA™ would translate the idea perfectly.

Below you can watch a video of the traditional Maori dance.
