Perfect Your New Year's Eve Style

Perfect Your New Year's Eve Style

With the holidays here our agendas are jam packed with parties, cocktail events, and dinners so it's more important than ever to dress to impress. Not to mention, New Year's is the perfect excuse to go all out. They say a new year, a new you right? In that case, here is everything you need to know to kick off 2016 looking your very best yet!

Not only is a well fitted tux practically irresistible, but it brings your sense of style to an entirely other level. While some parties may require a dress code, for others you may just want to channel your inner James Bond. Either way, the best part is if you don't already own one, you can rent a tux online from sites like Menguin or Generation Tux to save both time and money.

However, that's not the only way to do it. While a classic tux may be your flawless go-to, if you're the type of guy to go against the norm, a velvet dinner jacket can be a great alternative. You can wear it in a plethora of party worthy colors like navy, burgundy, plum or of course your standard black. Plus, depending on the event, pairing it with a light-mid wash distressed pair of jeans really screams effortless and cool.

And then you have the lady killer suit – shorter, fitted, sharper and the skinnier the tie the better.  For this look, it's all in the tailoring, and if done right will follow the natural contours of your body.

Since you have to keep the party going well before and after the clock strikes twelve, New Year's requires a certain longevity. A fresh, white dress shirt is a must for New Year's Eve parties. Hit the dance floor with all you got and never worry about sweat or odor.

Now that you have all that covered. You just need to tie your bow tie and you're off! Here's to always looking good!

Happy Holidays!!!

Ties For Every Occasion

Ties For Every Occasion

December is officially National Tie Month so now is the time to donate, purge, and upgrade your neck accessories. Unsure of the essentials and which ties work best for which occasion? Check out our complete tie guide of what to wear to work, formal events, or for casually dressing up in the coolest way possible.

If you work in a very corporate environment, a classic navy tie is a must-have because it can work with almost anything and will never go out of style. A burgundy color is also runner up and shows a bit more assertiveness but still remains timeless, especially when paired with a navy suit. Shop a great striped silk version here.

However, if you're headed to interview for a new job you really have to look sharp. Since it's all how you style yourself, a simple tie with a tailored suit and checkered shirt if done right, can really show off your confidence and personality. Brooklyn Taylors has some great monotoned wool ties and clean patterns in a shorter, more modern cut perfect for that first impression.

Black tie events are not uncommon and whether you have to attend a funeral, memorial, or dress up in a tuxedo, you're going to have to invest in a black tie. Incorporating texture is a great way to spice it up because nothing looks more suave than a crisp white shirt and black textured tie. Going skinny is optional, but highly recommended for a sleeker look.

To channel a less formal but still dapper aesthetic, Glen plaid is a go-to and both work and wedding appropriate. The key to making this work depending on the occasion, is all in how you layer it. Are you wearing a suit vest, sports jacket, or professional blazer? Either way, a Glen plaid is super complimentary and has just enough going on without going overboard.

Just like the rest of us, sometimes you just need to liven up your look. Experiment with a bold pattern and printed shirt for both work and play. Don't be afraid to mix bold stripes on stripes or plaids with polka dots. Throw in a fun pocket square or funky tie bar in for an extra affect. If you really want to push the limit, test out a pair of suspenders.

The key to your weekend style is to relax. Go for a light cotton in a colorful plaid, chambray or striped knit tie. Leave the jacket behind or opt for a sweater instead. Wear jeans! The options are endless!

With the holidays just around the corner, why not trade in your ugly christmas sweater for a fashionable holiday themed tie this year? The Tie Bar has rounded up some great holiday infused patterns like a classic red and green plaid or digital reindeer design. Both can be paired with a fun mistletoe pocket square to sport some added cheer. There is literally no better way to be festive, stylish and still show off your sense of humor.

Let's talk the perfect dress shirt because just like you need a tie for every occasion, you also need a versatile, fitted shirt to go with it. In that case, Tahaanga's got you taken care of with The James JX 1.0 Collection so you can always be ready for anything, sweat-free!
